1. Call your legislator and discuss the topics in the legislative page that concern you. Nothing impacts as much as a personal phone call. If you have never done this, you will find it easier than you think. Most legislators really want to hear from citizens and will appreciate your input. (For phone number and addresses click here)
2. Familiarize yourself with the issues on this website concerning the Legislative Session 2003 and pass this information on to legislators in your district and then to friends and pastors, etc. You can do this by copying and pasting the information to e-mails and sending them out to numerous people who you think will be concerned. There is an old saying that says if a person hears something often enough, they begin to believe it whether it is true or not. The media’s purpose is to give only one side, and people never hear the other side. Most of the relevant articles can be found by going to the front page of www.afaar.org and clicking the big headline 2003 Legislative Session. There are short versions and then related links that give entire articles.
3. Send financial help so we can air more of this information on radio stations during the legislative session in order to inform more people about these matters. [Address: American Family Association of Arkansas, P. O. Box 9076, Joensboro, AR 72402]
4. Choose several legislators and copy and paste the entire Legislative Session information from this website www.afaar.orgLegislativeSession (or send it by page) onto an e-mail and send to them. They have received it from AFA, but if they receive it from many other people, it will impact them a great deal more.
5. Anytime you see a letter to the editor that you agree with, clip it and personalize by writing a little note and mail it to your legislator or the governor or make several copies and send to several legislators. People who write those letters spend a great deal of time, and you can multiply their effectiveness by doing this.
6. Choose some of these topics that concern you and write your own letter to the editor. We have some English teachers that would gladly edit them for you if you are concerned concerned about your grammar or sentence structure.
7. Write some radio news items and send them to us – about 150 words. If they are effective enough, we will put them on the air as underwritten by AFA and you can receive credit for it or let it be read as underwritten by AFA.
8. Keep us informed about issues in your school, neighborhood, etc.
9. Browse our website (www.afaar.org) for other information; we add to it almost daily.
If you are concerned about the future of Arkansas and want to help influence the course of legislation, we have included a sample e-mail message that you can send or can use as a model to contact your legislator. We have also included on this page the names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses of all the legislators.

I am very concerned about the issues in this year's legislative session. I would ask you to consider how the laws that you enact will affect the hundreds of thousands of Arkansans who already pay a significant portion of their income in taxes. I am also concerned about the loss of local control of our schools, and the destruction of our rural or smaller districts.
Another issue which I ask you to prayerfully consider is the attempt by the alcohol forces to weaken the dry county laws. There is much information that shows that our dry counties are doing much better in many areas than the wet counties. [It would be helpful then to send statistics or facts from some of the studies on our website - You can do this by copying the article from the web and pasting to the e-mail]
