Test Scores for Jackson, Tennessee Magnet Schools
Links to scores given above each table.
Jackson, Tennessee elementary
magnet schools score lower than the state average on their TCAP state tests in
EVERY area, 10 to 20 points lower in lower in some areas. Note that the
state average is given in red font on the line just below the percentage points
in subject area. Evidently Tennessee benchmark scores are quite inflated in
comparison to Arkansas, much like Arkansas's 8th grade minimum performance used
to be because the state average for reading is 90% in 2005, etc.
Like Arkansas
evidently their scores don't start until 3rd grade.
About the Tests
In
2004-2005 Tennessee used the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP)
Achievement Test to test students in grades 3 through 8 in
reading/language arts, math, science and social studies. The results for
reading/language arts and math are displayed in GreatSchools.net profiles.
The TCAP is a
standards-based testing program, which means it measures specific skills defined
for each grade by the state of Tennessee.
The goal is for
all students to score at or above the proficient level.
