A legislator asked us what was wrong with the bills we included in the email "Can You Believe These Republicans Voted for This Bill?: We thought the information was clear enough but to put it more simpler: The bills referred to are all global warming bills backed by radical environmentalists that further Obama's and other liberals' CAP and Trade plan and radical EPA rules but disguised as energy savings bills as noted in the picture below. These bills will cause huge increases in energy prices for citizens of Arkansas. The information found in the original email can be found at this link: http://www.wpaag.org/Global%20Warming%20-%20Can%20U%20Believe%20AR%20GOP's%20voted%20for%20these%20bills.htm
Caption under the picture: "Flanked by environmentalists, Sen. Broadway and the bill's sponsor, Rep. Kathy Webb, Gov. Mike Beebe signs legislation to make schools and government buildings more energy efficient." Note the word ENVIRONMENTALISTS. Few people in Arkansas realize that Beebe surrounds himself with radical environmentalists and that the environmentalists take credit for getting these bills passed. If the picture did not come through, see this link http://citizensfirst.org/resources/2009%20Vote%20Guide.pdf page 29. The liberal website, Arkansas Citizens First Congress where the above picture is found lists most of these bills as bills for which the environmentalists lobbied and sponsored. See page 28 - 30 at this link: http://citizensfirst.org/resources/2009%20Vote%20Guide.pdf
Obama: "You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know -- Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it -- whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers." http://eddriscoll.com/archives/014260.php
So while we are fighting the liberals' cap and trade bills and the EPA's radical regulations at the national level, even our our Republicans have been helping to implement them (hopeflly through deception) at the state level at an unbelievably rapid speed. Senator Broadway and Representative Kathy Webb led this legislative endeavor through the roles on the Sustainable Development Task Force and the Governor's Global Warming Commission that worked hand in hand. These two task forces were made up mostly by everyone except elected officials. And Broadway and Webb sponsored the major environmental bills in 2009.
In 2009 the Arkansas Energy Office on their website heralds eleven new energy related bills, the most critical ones being sponsored and co-sponsored by Broadway and Webb. This Arkansas Energy Office is actually channeling money from the Stimulus bill to the Clinton Foundation Climate Initiative. This last action does not sound ethical to us.) http://arkansasenergy.org/energy-in-arkansas/energy-policy-and-legislation/87th-general-assembly.aspx
The Governor's Global Warming Commission include this statement in the Executive Summary: "All panels of scientists who have reviewed the science of climate change have concluded that there is a 90 to 95% probability that human activities have increased amounts of important GHGs (primarily CO2, CH4, N2O, and fluorocarbons) in the atmosphere to levels not seen in all of prior human experience, and likely not seen for 3 million years." For this quote, see last section EX-16 at this link: http://www.arclimatechange.us/ewebeditpro/items/O94F20342.PDF That statement is a far cry from what the majority of Arkansans believe. You can go to this link and see a list, state by state, of 31,487 American scientists who have signed a petition, basically saying global warming is a farce. http://www.petitionproject.org/
You need to read these articles to get a real grasp of what has been done and what they will be doing this session if we don't stop them.
Broadway for Lt Gov Voting Record - Zero Energy Dream Home http://www.wpaag.org/Broadway's%20zero%20energy%20home.htm
Representative Joan Cash of Jonesboro was soundly defeated mostly because of her role in the Global Warming Commission and legislation was revealed. Her opponent was the first Republican ever elected from this district. She was the only legislator (other than the Co-Chair, Representative Kathy Webb) who was appointed by the Governor to the Global Warming Committee.
Kathy Webb received the most liberal score (94%) and Joan Cash tied for 2nd most liberal score (92.9) by this liberal website, First Citizen Congress, where the above picture is found. Following are five of the top ten priorities as listed by this liberal organization on whose website Joan Cash is honored and given this 91.9% score.
- Enact the recommendations of the Global Warming Commission.
- Enact the recommendations of the HIV/AIDS Task Force.
- Progressive tax reform
- Create an Arkansas Civil Rights Commission.
- Enact the Dream Act to make sure every student graduating from an Arkansas school has the opportunity to pay in-state college tuition. [Note how they sanitize their goals. Every student means illegal aliens.]

Arkansas Citizens First Congress Ten Priorities For a Better Arkansas, p. 46
This quote is found on this liberal website along with a picture of Joan Cash. There was standing room only at the press conference where Rep. Joan Cash spoke in support of the Citizens First Congress Energy Efficiency Package of bills that save consumer money, help the environment and create jobs. See this link:
http://citizensfirst.org/resources/2009%20Vote%20Guide.pdf under heading Environment, p. 30 and page 28 for list of bills that include the eleven above noted on the Arkansas Energy Office website.
Of course, the words efficiency, saving money and creating jobs is the way the liberals are marketing this energy rationing program. (When greenhouse gas emissions are reduced [also called pollutants] you reduce energy output. When alternative fuel is used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the cost of energy increases exponentially. In that regard Obama himself said, "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. (ellipsis) Because I'm capping [rationing] greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it." Then Joan Cash and Governor Beebe and other liberals have the gall to say their energy plans would save consumers money.
"States that already have renewable electricity mandates of some kind have electricity prices that are 40 percent higher than those that do not, Dan Simmons, IER's director of state affairs noted in a recent conference call." "On September 25, 2008 the Arkansas Governor's Commission on Global Warming adopted a recommendation that no new coal plants be built in the state until carbon sequestration technology is ready. One such electricity producing coal plant has already been blocked in Arkansas. A vote was taken on these recommendations of the Commission and a majority of them received a unanimous vote.
The Governor's Commission on Global Warming recommends reducing greenhouse gases statewide "below 2000 levels by 20% by 2020, 35% by 2025, and 50%by 2035." That standard is higher than the national standard but not as high as the United Nations is recommending.
